Right now, I’m enamoured with 90′s grunge minimalism… probably because I’ve NEVER been a very minimal person… Where there is a blank wall, you can COUNT on me peppering it with frames… Clean kitchen? You will soon see me dirtying it up with all sorts of concoctions and the ensuing aftermath. Simple dress? I will DRENCH it in enough pretties to transform it into an otherwise unrecognizable outfit. I get lost and enchanted in the details.
HOWEVER, because of this artistic view, it makes it all the more strange territory when I come across pictures of minimalism that entrance me… my brain has to work on it. The thing that makes it palatable to me (and comprehensive enough to feel like I don’t have to learn a new aesthetic “language”) is that there is always a maximalist/strange/new detail SOMEwhere. Otherwise…. YAWN.
Case in point, these pictures from one of my new fave. bloggers, stylorectic. She is just untouchably, IMPOSSIBLY cool. …SIGH…
